The English language has many different sounds: vowels, consonants, long vowels and short vowels. Sometimes sounds blend together as is the case with consonant blends.
Consonant blends (also called consonant clusters) are a collection of two or three different consonant sounds that are each heard when the word is pronounced.
Examples:
1. class
2. glass
3. dress
4. grass
Consonant Digraphs, on the other hand, are two (or three) letters that come together to make one sound.
Examples:
1. cheer
2. wheel
3. shop
4. chill
Here are some flashcards of consonant blends and consonant digraphs.
